My husband and I tried everything: a special diet, an automatic water-drinking fountain, and subcutaneous fluids. In the end Ollie wouldn't eat and he didn't have the energy to clean himself. I knew it was time to say goodbye, but how do you say farewell to a loving eight-year old cat? When he was put to sleep, I felt a soft breeze touch my cheek. I think of it as his spirit being set free. Though it is sad letting go, good things may come. We adopted a kitten several months later. I never would have met Ozzie if it hadn't been for Ollie.Randihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16383929731044130086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4050210624343654411.post-58399828134004762112016-09-20T11:04:10.080-04:002016-09-20T11:04:10.080-04:00Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and...Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and your kind comments. I think we all move along these paths and have the same sorts of journeys in many ways - it's nice to know we're all in this together! Here's to finding the balance.emma d drydenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08742492495749128209noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4050210624343654411.post-34742037988050771392016-09-19T18:54:01.585-04:002016-09-19T18:54:01.585-04:00Your words meant so much to me today. He's an hour and a half away, dealing with his classmates, his teachers, and the minor discomforts of eating camp food and sleeping in a tent with kids who may or may not be his best friends. He'll have to deal with life without his parents for five days, and we will miss him terribly. But this is the beginning of letting go, isn't it. My husband is doing what you are doing with all of his parents' belongings. It is a difficult road, one filled with memories that show up unexpectedly as he goes through boxes of negatives, artwork, and personal letters. I'm so very sorry for your loss of Charley. How lucky that you were able to be with him when he left you. But congratulations on losing the weight that was holding you back, a huge achievement! I hope you feel more balanced, now. But, I, too, am sorting and eliminating items, and "getting rid" of pounds. Hooray for you and for me!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07841940734659708702noreply@blogger.com
